This early ‘70s inspired lookbook features designs from Detroit-based fashion designer and wardrobe stylist, Mel Hudson. Their muse, Savanna Daniels was adorned in luxurious retro furs and resembles the rock goddess, Penny Lane from Almost Famous.
Hudson hand marbled silks, uniquely reconstructed vintage pieces and screen-printed Van Morrison lyrics across a hand dyed tank top. With minors in fashion and printing, she spent her free time outside of class experimenting with fashion design. She showcased her work in three student-run shows, where she met photographer, Ashley Baird.
Ashley Baird also called the mitten home and recently relocated to Portland, Oregon. Baird is a combination of film and digital photography and was drawn to Hudson’s vintage-inspired looks. She plans to continue pursuing fashion photography on the west coast. Photography assistance was provided by Emily Nagle and hair and makeup was done by Ali Kraus.
Hudson is also a fashion and music writer and plans on launching a clothing brand in the near future.
