The Spring / Summer 2016 Collection from Austrian fashion label MESHIT draws inspiration from two dance movements from the 1970’s – the British “Northern Soul Movement” and the “American Disco Scene”, especially the dancers from the legendary TV show: “Soultrain” influenced the new collection. The overlapping point of both scenes was soul music. While the British youth went out to forget their hard working life, the dancers of “Soultrain” performed their best dance moves in outstanding outfits, to distinguish themselves. These two movements rise again in colourful and loose outfits – wide trousers, full circle skirts, overalls, loose dresses and sports tanktops bring back the feeling and mood of bygone days. In contrast to soft popelin and flowing fabrics you will find rough textiles like corduroy, twills and alcantara which are references to the origin of the “Northern Soul Movement” in the English working class. The collection also includes two specific textile prints. Jeans fabric has been scanned and newly arranged, to create a modern patchwork style. The colour range contains classic shades of blue, beige, white and olive as well as bright yellow and mustard.
