Coming through with bold and confident designs that empower women, NYC based brand Millioneiress is the ‘feminist streetwear brand’ that’s been on our rad-ar. We got the chance to catch up with the visionaire and founder behind the brand, Leah Kirsch to find out more about her badass line and the inspiration that fuels her. Peep below:

Who is the Millioneiress girl?
The Millioneiress girl is a confident woman who isn’t afraid to express her opinion and never ends a sentence with a question mark that she wanted to be a statement. She is authentic and unapologetically herself and she supports other women every time.

There’s a lot of girl power behind your designs, like your signature “Because I Can” slogan (which we love) and of course your take on Jay’s lyrical line “Ladies Is Pimps Too”. What inspires you and what does it mean to be running a feminist streetwear brand in the year 2016?
What inspires me the most is when I see a woman doing her own and following her dream regardless of any obstacle that may get in her way. This sounds so corny, but I mean really making moves: reaching out to people she looks up to, setting up lunch dates and meetings, reading books, learning…growing as a person in every way she can.

Something else that inspires me is when I see a woman not depend on a man. It’s rare to actually see this happening – it’s not something that just happens on the street. But when I do experience it, it’s wildly inspirational.

Running a feminist streetwear brand in 2016 is so amazing time due to due everything that is happening. Regardless if one likes Hillary Clinton or not, the fact that we have a female President Nominee is remarkable. This is huge for everyone but especially for women. It’s amazing to be a part of these changes in numerous ways.

How has NYC influenced you and your brand?
The city influences Millioneiress and me in two major ways. The first being there is inspiration everywhere you turn, whether it’s people, a building, art, a hidden park, anything.

The second being all the working and strong women in the city. Yes, there are a lot men, of course, but there’s something about New York City that is so inspirational when you see a boss ass women in her heels walking down the street with confidence. I know there are working women everywhere, but since there are so many people in the city, there are more women working.

We know running a brand is hard work and takes a lot of time to develop. Did you run into any challenges or road blocks on the way? How did you overcome them?
There are challenges and roadblocks everyday. Overcoming them is your mentality and zeal. You can’t get overwhelmed when a problem arises because there is always a solution – probably more than one, too.

What would you tell a young designer or entrepreneur out there who is dreaming of being her own boss? Any words of wisdom you would give her?
When you feel like giving up (and you will), know that something good is about to happen. Great things come from tough situations, your tenacity and hard work. If it didn’t, everyone would be doing it.

What’s next for Leah Kirsch and Millioneiress?
We are signing a lease for an office soon! This is amazing – a goal I’ve had since day 1 so it’s pretty crazy that it’s in the works. Additionally, Millioneiress is going to be transition slightly and launching a few brands under Millioneiress – I can’t share too many details yet!

Let’s talk personal style – how would you describe it?
Totally depends on my mood. Sometimes I am in a LBD and heels, other days I am in a LBD and Air Max. Sometimes I wear the tightest jeans ever made, the next day I will wear jeans cut for a dude. It really varies so much; it’s all about what my schedule is for the day and what feels comfortable.

Who are some of your fave designers or brands?
I looooove Off-White and Adidas, they are so dope. With regards to luxury brands, Chanel and Prada. Chanel is timeless and Coco Chanel changed fashion and women in fashion forever. Prada is a favorite because they are modern and experimental but also always classy.
