What makes ffiXXed unique when it comes to their clothing can probably be found in their philosophy that bridges art and design together. ffiXXed is a collaborative art and design project that was created by artist and designers Kain Picken and Fiona Lau in 2008.
Autumn / winter 2014 season, ffiXXed reflect on the notion of the ‘homebody’ and how the concept of the body in the home extends, interacts and moves between interior and exterior worlds. For ffiXXed the homebody doesn’t shy from the rhythm of the world outside, but rather integrates the pleasures of the home into different spheres of everyday life – private and public, work and life. The “homebody” seamlessly merges into the “workbody” or the “socialbody” and vise versa.
Throughout the collection ffiXXed draw on surfaces and objects that signify certain comforts of the home. Blankets, rugs, cushions (which are here transformed into bags) and other soft furnishings are constructed using wool knits, custom weaves and textured silks, to inform the textures and shapes within the collection. By integrating these domestic elements into different areas of contemporary life ffiXXed aim to produce a more ambiguous space through which bodies can perform simultaneous roles.
