On Thursday, October 20, beloved fashion house, Burberry, announced their first foray into the digital space with one of the most popular games to date. Burberry x Minecraft encompasses an epic digital experience, as well as a real life capsule collection that manages to marry the aesthetic of both brands. This follows the game’s previous partnerships with fashion brands, such as AAPE, Lacoste, and Uniqlo. Keep reading to get the scoop on this unique partnership.
The Minecraft collaboration is a first for Burberry as far as games go – and the explorative feat boasts four domains that requires the player to navigate through various obstacles. From the sneak peek, expect to be thrusted in worlds that include an expansive wheat field, an underwater city, and a London-inspired cityscape. The website shared that it features “15 downloadable skins based on fashion, fantasy and adventure. The game reimagines journeys into nature through the power of adventure.” Additionally, players will have access to exclusive in-game items that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
As for the capsule collection, the concept was to fuse Burberry icons with Minecraft motifs. Burberry community members will have the chance to shop 24 hours before it goes live to the public. Pieces include a graphic hoodie and a scarf with the iconic check pattern – both adapted with Minecraft’s signature block graphics. Of course, you will be able to match your Minecraft avatars to the same exact pieces.
The Burberry x Minecraft game and collection release on November 1 with the clothing being offered online at Burberry.com and in retail stores.
