It has been a whopping 20 years since the inception of Proenza Schouler – and founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez decided to celebrate the anniversary of their beloved brand in a big way. On Tuesday, October 4th, Proenza Schouler revisited their archives and released a capsule collection of pieces from the past.
Items from this limited re-edition date all the way back to their Fall 2002 collections and as recent as Spring 2020. This is not Proenza Schouler’s first vintage rodeo either. To celebrate its 15th anniversary, the brand had re-released some vintage designs. This time around though, you can expect to see tie dye print on velvet, dramatic drapery, and even a lace maxi dress from Fall 2013 – which despite its $4,990 price ticket – is almost sold out in the ivory color.
The brand released a statement in lieu of this project, expressing, “We often find ourselves loving some of the things we find and wishing we could offer these things once again. It’s sometimes frustrating how garments we create last all but one season before being replaced by whatever comes next.” In a way, this is part of the brand’s efforts to slow down and to focus solely on projects they truly believe in.
All of the throwback pieces from this Proenza Schouler re-edition capsule collection will include a sewn-in label that displays the season it was originally from. As far as prices are concerned, items range from $395 to $4,990.
