Target, the mass retailer everyone knows and loves, is continually one-upping themselves. With cutting edge collaborations in all departments, there is truly no one out there doing it like them. Over the past few years, one of the store’s initiatives has been to make fashion more accessible to the masses. Now, Target is teaming up with designer Gabriella Karefa-Johnson on a new rendition of the Future Collective line.
This collection is very much inspired by Gabriella’s own adoration for a maximalist sense of style. Upon first glance, you will immediately notice the choice of vibrant colors and bold prints. There are over 100 different pieces of the collection that will be dripped out through three different seasonal refreshes.
In talking with Vogue, Gabriella had said that her goal is to diminish the high pressure and intimidation factor of fashion. She states that “fashion should be about fun and it should be about joy. Getting dressed in the morning is one of the most joyous moments of the day for me”. This joyous vibe definitely comes across in the Target collab as key pieces include a fuchsia shirred dress and a lime green sweater.
The Target x Gabriella Karefa-Johnson Future Collective line is all inclusive. Sizes will range from XXS – 4X and 00 – 30. Staying true to Target’s more affordable roots, all pieces will be under $50, with most of them falling in the “under $35” category. These new pieces will be made available on January 29 and the final drop will be in Spring 2023.
