For a collection that steps outside the typical fashion conventions, you’ve got to see what Conflict of Ego is serving up. Titled, “Not in Vain,” this collection is inspired by the conflict we’re currently seeing in the world of social media. In particular, the collection focuses on the conflict between what is real and what is fake. You’ll notice a sense of bravado pulsing throughout these bold, attention-grabbing pieces in the same way that you might notice a social media post that’s meant to grab attention. For example, we’ve got a rich color palette of gold, azure blue, and regal purple; luxurious fabric like crepe silk; and ornate gowns. Together, this combination is undeniably bound to catch attention. Having said, though, you’ll also notice conflicting elements being paired with these more elaborate design elements. For example, silk is contrasted with cotton jersey, and basic tees are contrasted with ornate gowns to give the collection that sense of conflict that we were talking about. In addition, you’ll also likely notice that the symbol of the Virgin Mary is carefully placed throughout the collection on various pieces, which is done intentionally to symbolize love and purity. Conflict of Ego hopes to make the statement that although there might be a little “fakeness” and bravado floating around in the world on social media platforms, at the end of the day, life is full of purity and innocence.
