Pearls Before Swine

Himo Martin, a jeweler from Canada, finds inspiration from unconventional and overlooked sources of beauty. Back in 2006, Martin established Pearls Before Swine with the goal of challenging the traditional beauty standards of the cultured pearl industry. He breaks away from the traditional view of pearls and other gemstones by incorporating sliced pearls, raw diamonds, and ‘imperfect’ Tahitian or Akoya pearls in his designs. These unique elements can be seen in various pieces, from simple band rings to intricately crafted gold drop earrings. With the use of a special electroplating process and 14k yellow or rose gold, the collection achieves a delicate balance, adding a touch of elegance to items such as chain link necklaces and thorn pendants. Martin’s designs reflect a fusion of his admiration for precious metals and gems with a contemporary approach to fine jewelry.
