For a collection that screams chic, you’ve got to see what Aussie brand Aje has in store for Spring/Summer ‘20. Just keep in mind, if you’re thinking this “chic” collection will include your standard high-end tailoring, luxe fabrics, and clean lines, think again. Aje plays with design in a whole new way, and we’re all for it. In particular, you’ll find that this collection has been designed using the Japanese principles of wabi sabi. Wabi sabi is an aesthetic that has its root in the acceptance of imperfection. It finds beauty in things that are falling part, incomplete, and warping. In the “Impermanence” collection, Aje takes this principle and asks its customers to find beauty in deconstruction and contorted forms. Of course, though, let’s also keep in mind that despite these “contorted” forms, Aje always designs with wearability in mind. While there certainly is more of an artistic angle to these pieces than your average fashion collection, you’ll likely still find yourself reaching for these pieces in your everyday wardrobe. For instance, some of our favorite designs include a pale pink cargo jumpsuit, a pink and red midi dress with puff sleeves, a dramatic double-breasted blazer style dress, a moss green dress with knotted front detail and dramatic puff sleeves, and a super chic white shirt dress with belted waist detail. And so, if you’d like to balance that line between artistic and wearable, we highly recommend taking in all that Aje has to offer for Spring/Summer ‘20.
