Based in Paris and developed by fashion designer Mattia Akkermans and artist Morgan Belenguer, New Relation takes a fresh look at the creation of new systems of relationships between humans and non-humans, living and non-living. Each item they design is both part of their installations and permanent collection and is made of deadstock fabrics. Like a transforming skin the garments can be reproduced with substitute fabrics.
“Of Two Things One And It’s Always The Third” is New Relation’s newest collection. The collection features reversible clothes, in which each garment is made of one fabric with two different sides, where both facets are intertwined on both sides of the garment. Without hierarchy, both sides are equally important with their own differences. An ode to the multiplicity of differences we embody.
