We never expected tears of sadness to become a trend, but here we are. TikTok is in agreement that crying is trend-worthy. Let’s face it, a good cry session brings a natural flush to the cheeks, a glisten in the eye, and defined lashes. Why not pull these qualities into a beauty trend? But before you get ahead of yourself, real tears are not necessary for this look. Instead, you’ll rely on red-tinted makeup and glossy products to create the crying girl makeup trend. We’ll be sharing how to recreate this look and how you can adapt it for everyday wear.

When it comes to your base, opt for matte products to ensure the artificial tears (should you choose to add them) are the only shiny feature on your face. Set everything with a powder before moving on. To achieve a fresh “just cried” appearance, introduce slight redness into your complexion. Sweep a red blush on the tip of your nose and around your eyes. Using an eyeshadow brush and a matte pinky-red shade, emphasize the crying girl makeup by applying it in the inner corners and underneath the eyes.

For added definition, consider creating a slight wing with a liquid eyeliner. Curl your lashes, and if you’re skipping mascara, apply a few anime-inspired false lashes to open up the eyes. Now add a natural rose flush to your pout using a lip tint. To complete the look, you can introduce artificial tears by using a clear lip gloss to replicate streaming tears. If you’re stepping out, consider skipping this step to make the makeup more wearable.

While the crying girl makeup falls on the more dramatic side, it’s a rather fun look to replicate if you just want to try something new!
