Designer collaborations are not new to H&M. In fact, they have a longstanding history of releasing capsule collections with coveted brands. The Swedish-based brand has worked with everyone from Karl Laferfeld to Balmain. Back in February, H&M announced that a partnership with Mugler was on the way. With the first teaser promotion released this week, we surmise that this might just be the most awaited collaboration of the season.
The two brands have posted a music video inspired teaser featuring Amaarae, Shygirl, Eartheater, and Arca singing a rendition of Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust. As they built the song out in a recording studio, a model bursts through the wall wearing none other than the long awaited collaboration. Casey Cadwallaer, Creative Director of Mugler, stated that, “The collection is a celebration of everything that defines Mugler as a house and each piece is authentic Mugler, from the bodysuits, which have become a signature of ours, to the sharp tailoring and worked denims.”
When not everyone can afford shopping designers, these high-low collaborations help bridge the gap in the fashion world. It is inspiring to see that the collection will remain true to the Mugler identity – even when offered at a more affordable price point.
The H&M x Mugler collection is slated to release on May 11. Given the general reactions of the music video, we have no doubt that these pieces will fly off the shelves. We strongly urge you to mark your calendars now.
