For those of you who really appreciate the artistic side of fashion design, you’re going to love learning more about Para Platform. Established in 2014, this brand creates only one of each design. Each piece is handmade, from start to finish, and no machines are ever used in the design process. From the sourcing of materials to the weaving, Para Platform embodies true craftsmanship. To give you a sense of just how dedicated they are to preserving ancient forms of craftsmanship, they even create their own wool, which is a highly intensive process. They steam sheep’s wool for up to 8 hours, soak it in mountain water, and let it air dry in the sun. The material then must be worked on for the desired texture. It is then placed in a wooden barrel, and layered in a particular pattern so that it can spun by spindle. This ancient method is known as the birth of thread. Very few collections are created with this level of detail, and we can’t help but be in awe of what this brand is accomplishing with their passion for preserving ancient forms of craftsmanship.
