For over 10 years, Fumito Ganryu developed his craft while working with Japanese designer brand Comme des Garçons prior to launching his own label at Pitti Uomo 94. He was first recognized for his work with Junya Watanabe as a pattern maker and eventually was given the chance to design his own diffusion line in 2007 for Comme des Garçons. His streetwear-meets-workwear style has been praised for its intricate attention to detail. He strives to create clothing that is suitable for the 21st century, which combines synthetic fabrics with traditional Japanese methods of natural indigo-dying.
