The Vibe :
⊹ Cutout dresses with more nightlife energy than poolside politeness
⊹ Recycled fabrics shaped into off-center, body-skimming silhouettes
⊹ Saturated color replacing the predictable neutral resort wardrobe
⊹ Swim and evening pieces designed to leave the hotel
BAOBAB makes the kind of resortwear that looks slightly wasted on a quiet beach day. The Colombian label works in saturated color, strategic cutouts and asymmetric shapes that sit somewhere between swim, dinner dressing and a very late reservation. Across BAOBAB, a one-piece rarely behaves like basic swimwear, and a dress seldom settles for one clean line when a twist, opening or uneven hem could make it more interesting.

Founder Isabella Espinosa launched the brand in 2017 with a run of 150 swimsuits sold through Instagram and from the trunk of her car. The early proposition already looked different from the tropical-print formula surrounding Colombian beachwear at the time. Espinosa leaned into sunset gradients, strong solids and silhouettes that could move between settings, eventually expanding that language into draped separates and evening pieces without losing the stretch and exposed skin of the original swim designs.

The sustainability story sits underneath the clothes rather than becoming their entire personality. BAOBAB uses recycled polyester, including material linked to discarded plastic bottles and fishing nets, while production takes place through workshops in Bogotá and Medellín. Its Cascade Challenge also redirects leftover fabric toward artists and entrepreneurs who can turn the remnants into something useful. None of that makes the clothes look overly worthy. A ruched BAOBAB dress still arrives first as an outfit, not an environmental lecture.
