While summer beauty is still in full swing, the runway is already telling us what’s next. At the Dior Haute Couture Fall 2026 show, Creative and Image Director Peter Philips made a strong case for metallic eyeliner as the season’s standout beauty move. The approach was refreshingly simple: let the eyes do all the talking and keep everything else out of the way. Fresh, luminous skin and barely-there sculpting gave the reflective liner room to breathe and command full attention. This is exactly the kind of beauty moment worth paying attention to. As the seasons start to shift, it’s the perfect bridge between summer’s barely-there glow and the richer, moodier looks that define fall.
Luminous Complexion
Unlike summer’s toasted, bronzed complexion, Dior’s vision for fall is soft, refined, and incredibly fresh. Start with deeply hydrated skin, applying a serum-based primer to create a radiant canvas. Buff a lightweight layer of full-coverage foundation into the skin with a brush, then use concealer only where needed to brighten the under-eyes and disguise any discoloration. Set strategically with a veil of translucent powder, focusing only on areas prone to excess shine so the skin retains its natural luminosity. Skip heavy contouring altogether or use just a whisper of sculpting beneath the cheekbones. Instead of blush, tap a balm-like highlighter onto the high points of the face for a hydrated sheen.
Metallic Eyeliner
The eyes do all the talking. Inspired by Dior Beauty’s upcoming fall palette, which leans into soft sage and muted green tones, it begins with a sheer wash of chartreuse shadow across the lids. The color should remain subtle and just enough to create a backdrop. Next, trace a metallic eyeliner along the upper lash line, keeping the line slightly thicker than your everyday liner for maximum impact. Instead of extending it into a dramatic wing, stop just before the outer corner. Complete the look with softly defined brows.
If the Dior runway is any indication, metallic eyeliner is poised for a major comeback this fall.
