Jenny Packham Resort 2027 is less interested in floating gracefully into the party than taking control of it. Lower necklines, abbreviated hems and narrow straps bring a more openly sensual attitude to the designer’s eveningwear, while liquid satin, vertical sequins and jewel-covered bodices keep every surface ready for the lights to drop.
The shift came partly from younger customers asking for dresses that reveal more skin without losing the polish associated with Jenny Packham. That request pushed the collection away from delicate fantasy and toward a tougher kind of glamour. These women aren’t waiting at the edge of the dance floor. They’ve already crossed the room in stilettos and decided exactly where the night is heading.
Cinema supplied the attitude. Michelle Pfeiffer’s icy composure in “Scarface,” Sharon Stone’s controlled sensuality in “Basic Instinct” and Ellen Barkin’s femme-fatale presence in “Sea of Love” became reference points for women who could dominate a scene without raising their voices. Packham translated that authority through dresses that hold close to the body, plunge through the neckline and fall with the smoothness of something poured rather than fastened.
Color made the after-dark premise impossible to miss. A turquoise slip dress carried the blue shimmer of a swimming pool after sunset, its deep V-neck extending the line of the body. Another pale blue-green gown was crossed with gemstone embellishment, while strapless looks in gold and seafoam used faux jewels across the bodice and vertical sequin trails through the skirt. The dresses from the label have never avoided a spotlight, but Resort 2027 turns that relationship into the collection’s main event.
Not every entrance relied on bare shoulders and crystal light. Black and powder-blue gowns came with oversized gold collars that recalled ancient Egyptian jewelry, bringing a harder outline to otherwise fluid shapes. A gold caftan covered in glittering decoration leaned toward the patterned richness of a Gustav Klimt painting, giving the lineup one of its most opulent interruptions.
Then came the white satin slip dress. With no embellishment to hide behind, it depended on its low neckline, narrow silhouette and clean fall through the body. The reference moved from the disco years into the minimalism of the 1990s, recalling the sensual simplicity associated with Calvin Klein. Beside the jewel work and metallic surfaces, its lack of decoration made it one of the collection’s more provocative decisions.
The collection marks a notable change from the floral tension and punkish undertones of Jenny Packham’s previous resort chapter. Resort 2027 isn’t chasing innocence, botanical romance or storybook dressing. Its women know the camera is watching and meet it directly, whether they’re wearing an unadorned satin slip or a strapless gown lit up with gold.
Packham has already framed the collection as the first chapter of an ongoing “Disco Couture” idea, with a second installment planned for next season. That makes this lineup feel less like a nostalgic detour than the opening scene of a longer nightlife story. The glitter ball is spinning, the necklines are dropping and Jenny Packham isn’t leaving the dance floor yet.
