Kaia Gerber just made UGG boots a little more interesting. The model stars in the JW Anderson x UGG campaign, wearing the collaboration’s chestnut Loafer Boots with low-slung, baggy blue jeans and a white sleeveless top. It’s the kind of outfit that makes a very unusual shoe look like something you’ve owned forever. And these aren’t your average UGGs. Jonathan Anderson has given the familiar suede boot a preppy little identity crisis, borrowing details from classic penny loafers and putting them where nobody expected.

The first collaboration between JW Anderson and UGG introduces two unisex styles, the Loafer and Loafer Boot, inspired by the Classic Boot and Tasman. Both feature rounded toes, visible box stitching and penny-loafer straps, complete with UGG’s signature cushioning and plush interiors. Anderson selected three colors for the collection, including Chestnut, Khaki and a particularly punchy Orange. Part slipper, part prep-school shoe, these hybrids are wonderfully difficult to categorize.

Gerber joins musician and producer Dev Hynes, better known as Blood Orange, in the campaign. Earlier images photographed by Zhenya and Tanya Posternak showed Hynes getting dressed and lounging around the house in the new designs, with styling by Anderson himself. The collection arrived October 15 through both brands and select retailers. Gerber’s denim-and-tank combination offers another styling idea, with the boots’ loafer straps peeking out beneath the hems of her oversized jeans.
