Lovebirds made its London Fashion Week debut for Spring 2027 with “India: IYKYK,” a collection that looks past the familiar postcard version of India. Founders Gursi Singh and Amrita Khanna pulled from schoolroom charts, painted photo-studio backdrops and everyday street imagery. Those personal references landed on clothes that felt playful without losing the label’s eye for clean shapes: roomy jackets, printed separates and fluttering dresses. The point wasn’t nostalgia for its own sake; it was seeing familiar images differently.

Chintz was the season’s biggest experiment. Working with Indian block-printing artisans, the designers interrupted traditional floral repeats, layered the prints and brushed over the fabric by hand. The resulting flowers covered embroidered black jackets, trousers and shorts, then turned lighter on sheer skirts and tops. Blue-and-white checks appeared on handmade linen babydolls and long strapless dresses, joined by graphics borrowed from vintage school charts. The irregular patterns kept the clothes from feeling overly precious.

Elsewhere, cotton shirtwaist dresses and shorter strappy styles with folds and pin tucks arrived in pastel shades, while hand-block-printed dots brought a more graphic note. Sheer layered skirts and embroidered trousers added sparkle, and handwoven tussar silk, dupion silk and frayed brocade expanded the fabric story. With flip-flops and kitten heels in the styling, even the most elaborate pieces stayed casual. Some of the exaggerated volume, particularly oversized side pockets and car-wash pleats, competed with the prints, but the textile experiments gave the debut plenty of personality.
