The Vibe :
⊹ Jonathan Simkhai pushes leather, lace and denim through unexpected treatments for Spring 2027.
⊹ Jelly-coated denim, rubberized floral lace and optic fiber take familiar fabrics somewhere stranger.
⊹ The runway moves from sharp daywear into asymmetric dresses, fringe and evening pieces.
⊹ Feathered boots, metal-framed bags and glossy finishes carry the fabric play into accessories.
Simkhai Spring 2027 starts with clothes you know, then messes with what they are made of. Jonathan Simkhai sends out tailoring, tanks, trousers and shirting before the materials get progressively weirder: organza meets PVC and optic fiber, floral lace is rubberized, denim gets a glossy jelly coating and leather is sliced into long fringe. A black leather T-shirt dress opens with white chiffon peeking underneath, while coated tanks look almost rubberized despite staying soft on the body.

The collection gets looser as it moves toward evening. Raw silk chiffon fringe flickers around dresses, three-dimensional guipure adds more texture, and fully fringed leather maxis sweep the floor. Pincushion flowers inspire shaggy white tops and skirts made from organza, chiffon and paillettes, paired with satin tuxedo coats. Even the more familiar pieces on Simkhai make sense alongside this season’s obsession with changing how a fabric behaves without losing the clothes underneath.

Accessories keep the same slightly strange energy going. Ostrich feathers cover boots and appear on metal-framed bags, while stingray and glossy patent finishes push the natural-versus-synthetic idea further. Fashionista also notes that Simkhai pulled from the ’70s and ’90s while updating those references through newer fabric treatments and silhouettes. The runway closes far from where it started: crisp daywear has given way to fringe, shine, feathers and pieces that move very differently once the lights come on.
