The Vibe :
⊹ 1920s rowing references put an athletic spin on Ivy dressing for Spring 2027.
⊹ Workwear details interrupt traditional tailoring, with technical fabrics joining classic menswear patterns.
⊹ Brooks Brothers, Dickies, Baracuta and Danner join Daisuke Obana’s collaborator lineup.
N.Hoolywood approaches Spring 2027 menswear like a vintage obsessive who refuses to keep the good pieces behind glass. Designer Daisuke Obana worked in Japanese vintage stores in the early ’90s, and his memories of sharply dressed Ivy enthusiasts still inform the label. For “Physical Culture,” visits to athletic clubs in Los Angeles and New York added another reference: 1920s rowing culture. Cue tailored blazers, gym-ready tanks and a very flexible definition of proper dress.

Obana lets traditional menswear get a little roughed up. Workwear finishes and training-clothes details enter the mix alongside technical materials, while pleated trousers—including a bold plaid pair—share the lineup with drawstring pants. Flowing technical coats loosen the mood around suits and dress shirts. His team calls the meeting of workwear and traditional dressing “Watora,” and a trimmed denim blazer makes the idea wonderfully literal. The appeal is in those small disruptions: familiar clothes with their formality turned down.

That curiosity extends to the collaborators. Brooks Brothers contributes a short-sleeve shirt with its Golden Fleece logo across the back, a cheeky placement for such a recognizable menswear emblem. Dickies, Baracuta and Danner also feature in the season’s partnerships. Between the polos, sweaters and athletic separates, Obana keeps returning to clothes with an existing history, then adjusts how they sit together. Here, the rowing-club reference leaves plenty of space for a pair of drawstring pants.
