Soleil Soleil Built Its Resortwear World Around The Pareo

The Vibe :

⊹ The pareo has been part of Soleil Soleil since the Australian label began.

⊹ Founders Emma Johns and Isabel Abbey create the prints from their own original artwork.

⊹ Organic cotton voile forms the base of the label’s signature pareo styles.

⊹ Petite, square, grande, and silk versions push one idea through several summer wardrobes.

Soleil Soleil started with pareos, and the Australian label still treats them like the headline act. Founders Emma Johns and Isabel Abbey began the brand after meeting as textile designers in Sydney, turning a shared obsession with vintage prints, painting, and days by the water into something wearable. Each collection begins with artwork made by the pair together, so the pareo becomes the biggest uninterrupted hit of color and print in the lineup. It is basically a textile designer’s dream with somewhere to go.

The current Soleil Soleil pareo lineup moves through petite, square, and grande proportions, with silk options sitting beside the label’s organic cotton voile versions. Prints including Aurora, Florienne, Ivy, Liana, Surya, and Sundown Noir give the category plenty of personality without turning it into one repetitive beach wrap. Soleil Soleil describes the cotton fabric as extremely lightweight organic cotton voile, which keeps the artwork front and center while leaving plenty of room for different ways of tying and wearing it.

The pareo also explains a lot about how Soleil Soleil became a full resortwear label. Emma and Isabel originally planned an accessories and lifestyle brand, then began adding clothing when their own holiday wardrobes called for more pieces. That origin still shows. A pareo can sit over swim, become a skirt, work as a wrap, or take on a completely different shape with one knot. It also lands neatly beside The Cool Hour’s summer accessories edit, where pieces doing more than one job earn their suitcase space.

Andrea's experience in fashion began after graduating from the Fashion Marketing and Merchandising program from the Academy of Design in Toronto, ON. She broke out into the competitive world of fashion by launching her own online boutique, selling women's clothing and accessories. From there, very quickly, she discovered online selling was not for her. She now prefers to stay behind the computer, chatting about fashion in a written format that still allows her to connect with fellow style enthusiasts. And, since then, she has never looked back, writing for independent magazines, small businesses, and everything in between. Andrea now also occasionally writes for companies and brands outside the fashion and beauty industry, but at the end of the day, her heart remains loyal to what she knows best—great fashion.
