Tangoli wants getting dressed to feel a little less obedient. Its new “Soft Riot — A Romantic Rave” collection starts with the idea of rewriting clothes and the stories attached to their fabrics, then turns that thought into light lace, bright color, transparency and layers piled together like a collage on the body. Femininity here can be soft one second and rebellious the next, with pieces designed for trying, remixing and occasionally getting the combination deliciously wrong.
That tension gives Soft Riot its personality. Delicate fabrics meet louder shades, sheer pieces overlap rather than disappear beneath one another, and romance is treated as something lived-in instead of pristine. The collection’s “romantic rave” description feels especially apt: there is sweetness in the lace and fluid shapes, but the styling resists looking too precious. Instead, clothes can shift every time they are worn, depending on what gets layered, exposed, mismatched or pulled from somewhere else in the wardrobe.
The idea also connects back to Tangoli’s wider story. Founded by Alessandra Donato, the Paris-based label works with forgotten textiles, deadstock fabrics and upcycled garments, with pieces produced in its Paris atelier and through local makers. Tangoli also runs upcycling workshops, extending its reuse philosophy beyond the clothes themselves. Soft Riot takes those principles somewhere more instinctive: less about preserving a perfect object and more about giving existing materials another life through experimentation.
