The Vibe :
⊹ Wraparound trouser panels, split sleeves and doubled blazer fronts put the attention on cut.
⊹ Satin tops with cummerbund-like hems bring a formal flourish to the sportswear mix.
⊹ FESTAC ’77 architecture becomes knitwear pattern, connecting the collection to a history of collective celebration.
A good suit and a good time both have a place in Ahluwalia Spring 2027. Titled “Revel,” Priya Ahluwalia’s collection began with photographs of Black Panther members away from their public activism, finding room for pleasure within lives dedicated to resistance. That idea shaped a wardrobe of tailoring, satin and sportswear, including the label’s ongoing Puma collaboration. With less decoration than usual, the cut of a trouser or the front of a jacket had more room to register.

Trousers came with wraparound panels, satin tops ended in hems resembling cummerbunds, and blousons opened through split sleeves. A blazer with a double-panel front made the familiar suit look worth reconsidering. Ahluwalia noticed a suggestion of West African formality emerging during fittings, a reference that sat alongside the sportier pieces without making either feel out of place. Berets, slouchy topstitched denim and fringed dresses extended the options beyond tailoring, giving “Revel” a wardrobe for several different kinds of night out.

The patterns carried their own history. Jacquard knits drew on floor plans and aerial photographs of the architecture associated with FESTAC ’77, the pan-African cultural festival in Lagos. For the runway backdrop, Ahluwalia collaborated with Calico Wallpaper on a mural inspired by waterways connecting continents, linking migration and community to her multicultural heritage. Jimi Hendrix’s version of “All Along the Watchtower” accompanied the finale, bringing the protest references back into a show that also made space for celebration.
