Emilia Wickstead Spring 2027 starts in an artist’s studio, with plenty of reasons to dress up afterward. American painter Lee Krasner supplied both the artistic reference and the wardrobe cues: striped cotton shirts, ribbed knits and practical separates. Wickstead paired shirts with gathered skirts and layered oversized knits over cotton stripes, loosening the formality of her familiar A-line shapes. Frayed edges on lightweight tweed added another welcome interruption to all that polish.
The floral treatment deserves a closer look. Hand-painted daisies developed in-house appeared beneath sheer layers, their outlines softened by chiffon, while bias-cut dresses carried tulle overlays. For her first experiments with feathers, Wickstead arranged them as daisy petals over silk and used them to decorate tweed. Pleated inserts opened up skirts and shirtdresses, adding movement to the collection’s precise lines. These Emilia Wickstead dresses still had the presence for a big invitation, with blurred prints and fluttering details giving the prettiness a less pristine finish.
There were practical ways to change the look, too. Long dresses in pink silk or black chiffon featured asymmetric fabric panels that could fold down or tie up, adjusting how much of the neckline showed. Wickstead introduced the collection through a film screened at her Sloane Street flagship, with narration by restaurateur Jeremy King. Models moved between pastel rooms as close-ups picked out fraying hems and ribbons, giving the small details as much attention as the full silhouettes.
